Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Number One Creative Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government's obligations under the Climate Change Act 2008 and the objectives of PPN 006.
As a small procurement and supply business, we recognise that our most significant environmental impact arises not from our own operations but from the goods we source and the supply chains we rely on. Our approach to Net Zero therefore focuses on responsible sourcing, efficient logistics, and working with manufacturing partners who share our commitment to reducing carbon.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. They are the reference point against which future reduction is measured.
Number One Creative Ltd is a micro-enterprise with no employees other than its director, no owned or leased premises beyond a registered office, no company vehicles, and no manufacturing or warehousing operations of its own. The company operates on a low-footprint basis, conducting its activities remotely and digitally. Emissions are consequently minimal and are set out below.
| Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
|---|---|
| Scope 1 (direct — owned/controlled sources) | 0 |
| Scope 2 (indirect — purchased electricity) | 0 |
| Scope 3 (included sources)* | <1 |
| Total | <1 |
*Scope 3 sources included, as defined by PPN 006: upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, and downstream transportation and distribution. As a micro-enterprise operating remotely with no premises, staff commuting or in-house operations, the company's directly attributable Scope 3 emissions are negligible (estimated at less than one tonne CO2e, arising principally from limited business travel and home-office energy use). Emissions embodied in supplied goods and their transportation are managed through the supply-chain measures described below.
Emissions Reduction Targets
To continue our progress to Net Zero, Number One Creative Ltd commits to maintaining its low operational footprint as the business grows, and to reducing supply-chain emissions intensity relative to turnover. We will report progress against this commitment in future updates to this plan.
Carbon Reduction Projects & Measures
The following measures are in place or planned:
- Responsible sourcing. We prioritise manufacturing partners holding recognised environmental accreditations (such as ISO 14001) and FSC/PEFC chain-of-custody certification for timber-based products.
- Efficient logistics. Where practicable, we consolidate shipments, optimise container utilisation, and favour shorter and lower-carbon freight routes to reduce transport emissions per unit supplied.
- Nearshoring where viable. We consider European and near-market sourcing alongside cost, to reduce freight distances and associated emissions where it delivers value.
- Packaging reduction. We work with suppliers to minimise packaging, specify recyclable materials, and reduce void space in transit.
- Low-footprint operations. The business operates remotely and digitally, minimising office energy use, commuting and business travel.
- Supplier engagement. We engage manufacturing partners on their own carbon-reduction and ethical-sourcing performance as part of supplier selection and evaluation.
